Crickets. Dipped in chocolate. A delicious, crunchy, chocolatey, healthy snack with the right amount of Halloween built right in.
We are featuring these insects just for the Halloween holiday season. And no one else could make these for us other than Don Bugito, crafters of what they call the Prehispanic Snackeria. This San Francisco-based company focuses on edible insects in savory and sweet flavors, and they’re educators in sustainable food practices. This is our first collaboration with this La Cocina graduate, and we think everything that Don Bugito makes is more interesting and more delicious than candy corn.
The crickets in this bag were farmed for human consumption on a vegetarian diet of bran and carrots, then toasted for crunch. The insects are then hand-dipped in our single-origin 70% dark chocolate from Camino Verde, Ecuador.
